Psalm for Mass on May 9, 2010

Responsorial Psalm

Ps 67:2-3, 5, 6, 8

R. (4) O God, let all the nations praise you!
or:
R. Alleluia.

May God have pity on us and bless us;
may he let his face shine upon us.
So may your way be known upon earth;
among all nations, your salvation.

One of the really wonderful things about God is that if you go to Him and ask for help, He will not ignore you. He always answers -- maybe not in the way you want, but rather in the way you need. The last two lines funtionally assures us that His help covers not only "salvation," but also our "way on Earth."

R. O God, let all the nations praise you!
or:
R. Alleluia.

May the nations be glad and exult
because you rule the peoples in equity;
the nations on the earth you guide.

Americans have to remember that God does not follow the biggest guns. Napoleon said that -- and look what happened to him.

R. O God, let all the nations praise you!
or:
R. Alleluia.

May the peoples praise you, O God;
may all the peoples praise you!
May God bless us,
and may all the ends of the earth fear him!

Fearing God" does not mean "fearing" God. It means respecting God enormously, in thought and deed.

R. O God, let all the nations praise you!
or:R. Alleluia.
